CREATIVE TEAM
Sarah Burgess (Filmmaker) is a recent graduate of NYU/Tisch with a BFA in Film/Television. She is the writer and director of over half a dozen short films including Supergirl Takes Manhattan (aired on HBO in 2001) and These Things Happen . She has worked for MTV Networks and wrote a full treatment for the BBC2 documentary series, "Unseen," about Elvis Presley's most candid photographers, set to air in England and the U.S. later this year. She is the recipient of the 2004 Malcolm Ross Memorial Film Production Award and was a finalist in the Coca-Cola Refreshing Filmmaker's Award this year. Sarah is now writing her first feature and is developing a movie musical about The Learning Annex.
Nick Cregor (Sound Designer) is thrilled to be part of the Movie Geek team. He is delighted to be working with his talented friends and colleagues and excited to be part of the 2005 FringeNYC. He is a recent graduate from the NYU/Tisch drama department where some of his sound design credits include Dancing at Lughnasa and Mountain Language .
Dylan Dawson (Co-Creator, Playwright, Performer). Dylan's roots in the theatre began in Minneapolis where he performed with The Children's Theatre, The Great American History Theatre, and The Illusion Theatre, among others. Last summer he brought the character of "Movie Geek" to Los Angeles with the Charlie B. Theater Company. Recent acting credits include Glengarry Glen Ross , Woyzeck , Sincerity Forever , Marie and Bruce , Rats , and the world premiere of Foxhollow . He is a recent graduate from NYU/Tisch with a BFA in Drama.
Andy Donald (Co-Creator, Director) is the co-founder and artistic director of the Charlie B. Theater Company in Los Angeles. Directing credits include Glengarry Glen Ross , Marie and Bruce , Rats , Where Has Tommy Flowers Gone? , Baby with the Bathwater , and Blogtown--an Election Year Satire . Last summer, Andy created "The Flight Series: Five Emerging Playwrights in Workshop" where he first worked on and developed Movie Geek with Dylan. He has worked for two years with the Public Theater's Shakespeare in the Park series. Andy is a recent graduate of NYU/Tisch with a BFA in Drama and directing.
Josh Hoglund (Scenic Designer, Art Direction/Props) has designed sets for Othello, The Investigation of the Murder in El Salvador, and W.A.S.P, among other things. He has directed The Sandalwood Box and Sincerity Forever , by Mac Wellman, and Far Away by Caryl Churchill. He is currently developing a new play written by Shonni Enelow, tentatively titled The Late Education of Sasha Wolff. Josh is a recent graduate of NYU/Tisch with a BFA in Drama and directing.
Ana Hurka-Robles (Filmmaker) works in film and video as a writer-director, and is also adept at art direction and graphic design (see the Movie Geek poster). She is an avid theater fan, and recently composed the score to Practical Marriage , a new musical. Over the past year, she has directed three shorts - "Wasted Life: The Musical", "Brand Management", and "Problems, 5". They are all due to hit the festival circuit in the coming months. Jenny Lavery (Lighting Designer) is a recent graduate of NYU/Tisch with a BFA in Drama: of directing, lighting design, and physical acting. Past lighting credits include Six Degrees of Separation, Glengarry Glen Ross, The Sign in Sidney Brustein's Window , among others. Directing credits include Contemplacion, Asleep on the Wind, The Full Circle , and Sam Shepard's Seduced .
Mary Madden (Producer) has been a part of the Charlie B. Theatre Company for the past two summers and this year became the company's managing director. Past producing credits with Charlie B. include Movie Geek , Blogtown--An Election Year Satire , Fall/Sylvia/Fall , All Is All , The Lobby , Baby with the Bathwater and Where Has Tommy Flowers Gone? She is a recent graduate from Emerson College in Boston, MA, with a BA in Radio Production. In the past, she has worked with Fenway Recordings and Universal Music Group.
Aaron Maurer (Filmmaker) began his film studies at the New York Film Academy and is now a film/animation major at Rhode Island School of Design. Most recently he was the assistant to the director on the feature The Warrior Class , which is currently "in post."
Deena Selenow (Dramaturg/Assistant Sound Designer) is a recent graduate of NYU/Tisch where she holds a BFA in directing, design and experimental theatre (both in New York and Amsterdam). Sound design: Steel Kiss, A View From the Bridge, among others . Directing credits: Request Stop, Special Offer, Witness, Virtual Reality and Eugene Ionesco's Rhinoceros.
Laura Shiffrin (Costume Designer) has costumed 8 shows to date, including Marie and Bruce by Wallace Shawn, also directed by Andy Donald. In addition to her costume work, she harbors a great love for directing and has helmed 7 shows, including Edward Albee's Three Tall Women and Adrienne Kennedy's A Lesson in Dead Language . She is a recent graduate of NYU/Tisch with a BFA in Drama.
Cori Silberman (Producer) is a recent graduate of NYU/Tisch with a BFA in Drama. She currently splits her time between performing and producing. Some recent performing credits include NYU's Falsettos and Company, and Stella Adler School's The Grand Tarot , As It Is In Heaven , and Fen . She was proud to be the producer on NYU's Smile and has spent a year with Roy Gabay Productions.
Rebecca Spinac (Production Stage Manager) is thrilled to be working with this lovely and dynamic group of theater artists. Past credits include: The Whore of Sheridan Square (La Mama, E.T.C.), Aphrodisiac (13P @ P.S. 122), Oswald's Backyard (The Present Company), Ring of Death (Theater for the New City), A Place Without Seasons and Onion Girl (The 2004 New York International Fringe Festival), and Foxhollow (Playwrights Horizons Theater School). Rebecca is a graduate of NYU's Tisch School of the Arts.
Charlie B. Theater Company (Producer) Charlie B. is a Los Angeles-based ensemble, formed in the summer of 2001 by Andy Donald and Daniel Hartley, two best friends since kindergarten who have been acting together since fifth grade. The Company began with a commitment to providing a creative theatre space for young working professionals under 30 in the Los Angeles community. The ensemble works to produce, direct, design, and act in their own productions, choosing material from any era and applying it to today's world. The Company also collaborates with new writers and provides a home for the further development and production of their work. Last year, the Company introduced their first "Flight Series: A Workshop Festival of Original Plays" where Movie Geek was first performed. Since its inception, the membership has grown from a mere four members to 35 in just five years. Past productions also include works by Kenneth Lonergan, Christopher Durang, Dario Fo, and Terrence McNally.
ACTORS
Eric Clem (Performer) is a recent graduate of NYU/Tisch with a BFA in Drama. He has appeared on stage in a number of plays including Glengarry Glen Ross , Woyzeck , Full Circle , Iphigenia in Orem , I Hate Hamlet , Forensic and the Navigators and the world premiere of Foxhollow .
Josh Halloway (Performer) is an actor, writer, director and recent graduate of NYU/Tisch with a BFA in Drama. His acting credits include Chaucer in Rome , Saved by the Bell: the Musical , The Miser , Our Town , and Getting Out . Among his directing credits are the musical Smile , The Rocky Horror Show , the feature independent film Travis , and "The Magnum Sketch Show." Last summer his musical Blogtown--An Election Year Satire received a workshop production in Los Angeles with the Charlie B. Theater Company. In addition to theater, Josh has written several screenplays and a TV pilot.
Adam Lustick (Performer) has had a great time working on Movie Geek (although he himself has never seen a movie). He is a graduate of NYU/Tisch, where he studied at the Atlantic Theater Company Acting School. He has been involved in a gaggle of productions whilst at NYU as well as a smattering of student films. He is also involved with the Harvard Sailing Team, a sketch comedy group of which he is quite proud. He would like to thank Alison very much.
Maggie Marion (Performer) is a member of the Charlie B. Theater Company and has performed in its productions of Blogtown and Baby with the Bathwater . She is a Los Angeles native who returned home in June after spending two years at Philadelphia's University of the Arts. She most recently performed in the LA WEEKLY award winning Don Juan in Chicago by David Ives and the Los Angeles premiere of Finer Nobel Gases by Adam Rapp. She also costume designed the world premiere of Love Tapes by Penn Gillette and Steven Banks.
Shannon Walker (Performer) Shannon was last seen as the Queen of Hearts in Atlantic Theater Company's production of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (Atlantic for Kids), Rearview Mirror (Hot Ink Festival), and as Lady Macbeth in Macbeth (Atlantic Theater Company Acting School). Other Credits include Dealer in Lanford Wilson's Brontosaurus (Atlantic Theater Company Acting School), Miami in Sam Shepard's Seduced , (Playwright's Horizons 3rd Year Project), and many NYU student films. She is a recent grad of NYU/Tisch and Atlantic Theater Company.
